The man believed responsible for a string of robberies last week in South Louisiana, including an armed conflict in Garyville, has been arrested, authorities said.

According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Washington was arrested over the weekend in the Lake Charles area.

Local police identified Washington, a man described as having St. John ties, as the person responsible for robbing three gas stations Tuesday night and into the early morning hours Wednesday.

Police said Washington may have been driving a silver Dodge Charger with Louisiana license plate YHV-419. Anyone with information about his whereabouts was asked to call the Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities first reported a man entered Chevron/Marathon Truck Stop on West Airline Highway Tuesday night to make a small purchase before pulling out a handgun, pointed it at the cashier and grabbing an unknown amount of money from the register.

The gunman fled in a silver Charger on Airline Highway, heading to St. James Parish.

In the early morning hours Wednesday, police said they believe the same gunman robbed a Marathon truck stop in Gonzales and a Shell gas station in Iberville Parish.
