Keller: There is much cancer can’t do

Published 12:01 am Saturday, October 14, 2017

This month we will see more pink being worn than in any other month.

The reason is that October is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The message sent by people wearing pink is to encourage women to have regular mammograms and to get our attention to this dreaded, treatable disease if diagnosed early.

My wife had breast cancer years ago and because she annually had a mammogram, and received the needed surgery that allows her to live a normal life.

If you, or someone you know, have cancer, there are choices that must be made.

Cancer kills and the news that you have been diagnosed with the disease is devastating.

I’ll never forget when my daughter, Ronny, was diagnosed with acute leukemia. Her  doctor shared the following with her:

WHAT CANCER CANNOT DO

Cancer is so limited

It cannot cripple love

It cannot shatter hope

It cannot corrode faith

It cannot destroy peace

It cannot kill friendship

It cannot suppress memories

It cannot silence courage

It cannot invade the soul

It cannot steal eternal life

It cannot conquer the spirit

Instead of focusing on the negative news of cancer, be positive and concentrate on the things that cannot rob us of our serenity.
