RESERVE — More than a month after a Reserve convenience store employee was threatened and robbed at gunpoint, Sheriff Mike Tregre announced a $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

In a social media message posted Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office said “detectives are asking that anyone with information regarding this crime call the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS, SJSO dispatch at 985-652-6338 (or) the Criminal Investigations Division at 985-652.2773.”

The armed robbery occurred July 31, with L’OBSERVATEUR initially reporting that week that a Birdie’s Convenience Store employee was targeted at approximately 9:20 p.m. when leaving the business at River Road and Central Avenue in Reserve. Police said two unknown male subjects robbed him of an undisclosed sum of money. Both fled the scene on foot behind the store. No injuries were reported.

Little descriptive information on the assailants was released in the week following the robbery, with police only publicly saying they were dressed in dark clothing.

Authorities added a little more information this week, saying the assailants were black males wearing all black clothing with navy blue bandannas covering their faces and hoodies over their heads.

One of the perpetrators pointed a handgun at the victim while the other suspect retrieved the victim’s bag, which contained an undisclosed amount of money, police said this week.
