Gazielle Mitchell

Gazielle Mitchell passed peacefully away in hospice at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph on Aug. 31, 2017. She would like you to believe that she was still 29 years old.
Gazielle was born in Arcata, Calif., on Sept. 5, 1957, the daughter of the late Mr. Perry Mitchell and Mrs. Ann Mitchell.
She was predeceased by her grandson Mackenzie Robert Cox, who was immediately an enjoyment. She graduated from Buras High School. Rather than pursue a degree and become a doctor, as her father wanted, or a person with a sense of decorum, as her mother would have preferred, she decided to welcome a beautiful daughter, Trisha MacDowell.
Gazielle’s best moments were those spent teaching her daughter to read, write and be a good person.
She also heartily enjoyed owning her own bar “Fisherman’s Wharf,” where she was able to enjoy her passion to fish in her free time. She was a beautiful, smart and caring person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her boyfriend, Charles Barlow; her daughter, Trisha MacDowell; her future son-in-law, John Greg Sheppeard; and her Wharf family employees, Laurie Clark, Amy S. Whitney, Sharon Butler and Dee Gisiner.
She was preceded in death by every person who ever lived on this planet, including Elvis Presley.
She will greatly miss the taste of Diet Coke and potato chips.
Relatives, family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, 2806 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace, on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m.
