Keller: People in our lives are God’s blessings

Last week, I had an appointment with urologist, Dr. Clay Boyd, for a checkup.

His nurse, Megan Alleman, seemed glad to see me and, smilingly, asked, “Do you remember me?”

I assured her that I did, but asked her to help me with her name.

She then asked if I remembered praying for her, which I did, and said that God had answered her prayers.

Megan reminded me that she had a few bad experiences with boyfriends.

“You prayed that God would put a godly young man in my life. Last year, I was at an LSU baseball game and standing next to me was a young man named Tyler Bruce. He is a great guy and we’ve been dating for a year.”

She told me that he works construction at Dow Chemical in Baton Rouge. He completed the Technical Training School for operators and hopes to get hired permanently with a plant.

I suggested we pray that Tyler already has a job picked out for him by God and to just be patient. I then added a P.S. to the prayer.

Jokingly, I said, “God, we know all things for us are in Your timing, but we ask You to hurry up.”

After my visit with the doctor, Megan thanked me and gave me a hug. I then said, “I guess after you get married, I’ll have to pray for you to have children. Please keep me informed of your relationship with Tyler.”

If people in our lives are God’s gifts to us, Megan is indeed a blessing!
