Poche’: Refreshing delights await summer reading champions

The Summer Reading Program is coming to an end for St. John the Baptist Parish Libraries.
Bailey’s Ice Delights and Chill Sensations mobile snowball trucks will be visiting the libraries to give free snowballs to everyone who has completed the Summer Reading Program. Bailey’s Ice Delights will be at the Edgard Library from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. July 31 and from 5 to 7 p.m. July 31 at the Reserve Library.
Chill Sensations will be at the Central Library from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 3 and the Garyville Library from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 3.
During the last week, there will be fun and interesting programs. Animal Architects will visit the Edgard and Reserve Libraries Thursday to showcase their magnificent animals. The performance will be held at 10 a.m. at the Edgard Library and 2 p.m. at the Reserve Library.
The Reserve Library will host a “Library Cinema Day” at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for patrons of all ages. The Garyville Library will have a “Wind Chime Craft” at 2 p.m. Thursday for tweens and teens.
The Edgard Library will host “Game Time” at 3:30 p.m. Thursday for tweens and teens. The Central Library will host a “Teen Art Show” at 6 p.m. July 31 for teens.
August will also be an exciting time to attend St. John the Baptist Parish Libraries.
The Central Library will continue to host its “Computer Classes” for adults at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. every Wednesday and also continue to host “Crocheting Classes” at 5 p.m. Aug. 9 and 23.
Tweens and teens are invited out at 6 p.m. Aug. 14 for an “Emoji Locker Magnet Craft,” Aug. 21 for a “Backpack Bling Craft,” and Aug. 28 for a “Locker Picture Frame Craft.”
Storytime will be held every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for children between the ages of 1 and 5. Kids’ crafts will be held at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 12 and 26 for children 4 and older.
The Reserve Library will host “Build a Better You” for adult patrons at 10 a.m. every Wednesday. The monthly Make Shoppe will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 14. Patrons will be making shrinky dink charm bracelets. Registration is required for this program.
Morning Makers will be held at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 22, where adult patrons will be making customized bookmarks.
Tweens and teens are invited out at 5 p.m. Aug. 10 to make “DIY Pencil Cases.” Children are welcome every Wednesday for “Wee Readers’ Book Club.” On Aug. 2, 23 and 30, it will be held at 4 p.m. and on Aug. 9 and 16, it will be held at 10 a.m.
The Garyville Library will host a “Movie Matinee” at 2 p.m. Aug. 21 for adult patrons. Tweens and teens are invited out to make “Handmade Cards” to celebrate Friendship Day at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 3. Children are welcome every Tuesday for “Drop In and Play” at 10 a.m. and every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. for “Pajama Evening Storytime.”
A “Butterfly Craft” will be held at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 7 for children ages 6 and up. A “Teaching Time Piece Craft” will be held at 4 p.m. Aug. 31 for children ages 7 and up.
The Edgard Library will host “Reel Read,” a new book club for adults at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 2. They will also host a “Personalized Bookend Craft” at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 16 and an adult “Coloring Event” at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 30.
Tweens and teens are invited out at 3:30 p.m. every Thursday for “Game Time.” Games such as Checkers, Jenga, Candyland, etc. will be played.
Tweens and teens will make “Back-to-School Mason Jars” at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 9 and build “Lego Architecture Structures” at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 22. Children, ages 6 to 12, are welcom to participate in a “Craft Stick School Bus Craft” at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 1. They are also invited out at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 8 to make “Duct Tape Pencil Pouches” and at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 25 to make “Paper Plate Apple Cores.”
