LAPLACE — A Tangipahoa Parish man posted bond and was released after admitting to police he raped a woman in LaPlace, authorities said.
Timothy Berry, 35, of Ponchatoula, was arrested June 23, charged with felony oral sexual battery and felony second degree rape.
A release from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office said Berry drove a Hammond woman to a LaPlace hotel June 17 and “forced her to have sexual intercourse without her consent.”
The Sheriff’s Office said an investigation led detectives to obtain a judicial warrant for Berry’s arrest.
“During questioning, Berry admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim without her consent,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
Berry was released June 24 after posting a $65,000 bond.
