LAPLACE — Countries and continents from around the world were recently featured at the “I am a Child of God” Cultural Night at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in LaPlace.

Church and River Parishes community members united to share the message that we are all children of God with a unique heritage, and He loves us all the same.

Regions represented included Africa, Chile, France, Italy, Malaysia, Norway and the United States. Facts, clothing, food and traditions were displayed and celebrated. Presenters were from the regions or were direct decedents.

Event organizer Jaime Rich said the atmosphere was incredible and inspiring.

Bishop Michael Brooks said he was thankful for all those who planned and attended.

“I remind our youth before they leave our area to serve two-year missions around the world to ‘love the people,’ because we are all children of God,” Brooks said.
