The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office hosted its first Employee Health Benefits Fair last week in the Lanard Robinet Multi-Purpose Room at Patrol Headquarters in LaPlace.

The Human Resources Department sponsored the fair, and a committee of employees worked together to organize the event.

Employees as well as retirees had the opportunity to participate in free activities and left the event with gifts from vendors and information about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, saving for retirement, insurance benefits and money management.

Participants talked with representatives from many of the vendors who provide employee benefits at the SJSO. Eye and blood pressure checks were offered. The Blood Bank was on site for blood donations.

Participants also were encouraged to play the SJSO Plinko game to win one of several free gifts, including water bottles, SJSO blankets, tumblers and gift cards. The SJSO also kicked off a membership drive for its new Employee Benefits Club.
