RESERVE — St. John the Baptist Parish Officials will host two community meetings to present the findings of the Historic Preservation Study Committee to residents and business owners.
The study committee, formed by resolution of the Parish Council in September, has worked in partnership with the Parish Planning and Zoning Department and a team of graduate students from the University of New Orleans over the last nine months to identify historic areas of St. John Parish and propose recommendations for their revitalization.
The meetings will be held at the following locations: At 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Leon C. Godchaux School cafeteria, 1600 River Road in Reserve and at 6:30 p.m. May 11 at the Edgard Courthouse in River Road in Edgard.
Meeting attendees can expect a brief presentation regarding strategies proposed to preserve historic structures and promote economic activity within historic districts. Representatives from the Study Committee, Parish and University of New Orleans will be available for questions and comments.
After collecting input from residents and business owners, the Planning and Zoning Department will present findings to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a formal recommendation to the Parish Council.
