LAPLACE — A shooting victim is recovering from multiple wounds, police said, while a local man faces an attempted first degree murder arrest.
Michael Kendrick, 24, of LaPlace, was arrested Thursday following a shooting in the English Colony and Revere Drive area of LaPlace.
Police were still gathering details Friday morning at press time, but St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre described the investigation as “pretty open and shut.”
“The victim is still alive,” Tregre said. “He was shot multiple times at close range. The suspect fled and we caught the suspect in possession of the gun.”
Kendrick is charged with attempted first degree murder, illegal possession of stolen firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of firearm/carry concealed weapon by convicted felon.
St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting report at 11:50 a.m. Thursday, where they located the male victim.
Authorities said the victim was initially taken to a local hospital and his condition is unknown.
No other suspects are being sought, Tregre said.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS, dispatch at 985-652-6338 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
