Michel: World of possibilities opened through power of prayer

Did you hear the story about the man who began construction of a new bar?

A local church began to petition and pray to stop the bar from opening. A week before it was to open, lightning struck the bar and burned it to the ground.

People at the church were excited until the bar owner sued the church on the grounds that it was responsible for the demise of the building. The church denied any connection to the destruction of the bar.

The judge said, “‘I don’t know how I’m going to decide this, but as it appears from the paperwork, we have a bar owner who believes in the power of prayer and an entire church congregation that doesn’t.”

I laughed, too.

Then I took a long, hard look at my prayer list and asked myself if I really believed that God could accomplish all that I was asking of Him. I grabbed an index card and wrote out Ephesians 3:20.

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

God is able. Ask Him now.
