Carl Emmitt Brumfield

Carl Emmitt Brumfield, “Tender Foot,” passed away peacefully at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital on Feb. 19, 2017, in his 70th year.
He lived a full life doing what made him happy. He loved fishing (Perch was his specialty), watching wrestling and cooking for his family. He also enjoyed the long talks he had with his buddy, Colette.
Carl was born Jan. 15, 1947, in Roseland. He was educated at Fifth Ward High School and went on to join the United States Air Force, where he served his country diligently.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Reed and Vertis Brumfield Martin; two sisters, Voncile Smith and Eydie Martin; and one nephew, Larry Holloway Jr.
He is survived by six siblings; Arie Wilson, Myrtis Singleton, Rayford Martin, Leslie Martin, Albert Martin Jr., and Lorainey Woods and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Wright and Calvey Funeral Home, 304 S. Cherry St. in Hammond on Tuesday, March 7 at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell.
