Poche’: Libraries plan exciting events for all in March

March will be an exciting time at St. John the Baptist Parish Library.

The Central Library will be hosting Computer Classes for adult patrons of all ages at 10 a.m. every Wednesday in March. Adult patrons are also welcome to attend the Spring Wreath craft at 6 p.m. March 15.

Tweens and teens will make Lucky Darumas at 6 p.m. March 6; Daruma dolls are good luck charms and guardians of your wishes, taken from the Japanese culture.

They will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by making Four Leaf Clover Pins at 6 p.m. March 13. Tweens and teens will also make Duct Tape Pencil Cases at 6 p.m. March 20 and Mini Memory Jars at 6 p.m. March 27. Memory jars are made as a simple way to remember to be thankful for the little things in life.

Children’s programs will consist of a Movie Matinee at 2 p.m. March 1, Storytime every Friday at 10:30 a.m., Kreative Kidz at 10 a.m. March 18 and Books & Beyond at 5:30 p.m. March 23.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, patrons of all ages are invited to make ornaments for display at the Reserve Library through March.

In honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday, all patrons can join the Reserve Library for The Cat in the Hat Short and Craft at 5 p.m. March 6.

This month’s Make Shoppe will also celebrate Women’s History Month, where patrons will create beautiful 3D Canvas paintings of themselves or other women who have inspired them at 6 p.m. March 13.

Tweens and teens are invited to celebrate Teen Tech Week March 11, where they will learn how to use the Cream & Sugar app to make a fun keepsake.

The Garyville Library will host Tablet/E-Reader Tutoring at 2:30 p.m. March 17.

The program offers helps to adults who would like to learn more about their sometimes difficult e-readers. Tablet/E-Reader Tutoring will also be held for tweens and teens at 2:30 p.m. March 27.

Cynthia Clifton of the LSU Ag Center will be hosting Make Your Plate Great for children at 2 p.m. March 1, where children learn simple tricks on how to eat better. Children’s programs will also include PJ Storytime at 5 p.m. every Thursday in March, A Kite Craft at 2:30 p.m. March 3, Think Skills Activity at 5 p.m. March 13, Mosaic Paper Shamrocks at 4 p.m. March 16, Movie Matinee March 20 at 2:30 p.m. and Simply Paint at 4:30 p.m. March 20.

The Edgard branch is closed for renovations. Patrons can visit other library branches to check out materials, use the computers and enjoy adult, tween, teen and children programming.
