LAPLACE — The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for portions of Louisiana, including St. John the Baptist Parish, until 2 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 7).

The storm prediction center is currently indicating a risk of severe weather across the region, bringing threats of heavy rainfall, tornadoes, strong winds and large hail.

Street flooding in low-lying areas may occur due to the large amount of rainfall in short periods of time.

Public Works and Utilities crews are on standby in the event issues arise with the drainage and utility systems.

Residents are advised to stay indoors during the severe weather and report any issues or concerns to 9-1-1.

Please stay tuned to local weather forecasts for changes and updates in the weather and be prepared to take action should a tornado warning be issued.
