Regional Social Studies Fair

Students from the St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District participated Jan. 19 in the Regional Social Studies Fair at Nicholls State University, competing against students in seven other parishes, including public and private schools. Winners were:

Division 1: Re’Shawn Hilaire and Dedric Lastie, Lake Pontchartrain Elementary, second place in Team Louisiana History; Rubien Hayes, LaPlace Elementary, first place in Louisiana History; and Colin Hoyt, LaPlace Elementary, third place in History.

Division 2: Savannah Banks and Angelina Aguilar, Lake Pontchartrain Elementary, second place in Team Geography; Ya’Kennya Jones and Darlyn Garcia, Lake Pontchartrain Elementary, third place in Team Political Science; Janeth Lopez, , Lake Pontchartrain Elementary, third place in Geography; Amari Gayden, John L. Ory Communications Magnet, second place in Anthropology; Tavis Brumfield, , Lake Pontchartrain Elementary, first place in Sociology.

Division 3: Briana Grayman and Glasia Walker, West St. John High, first place in Team Sociology; Glenn Grayman and Glan Grayman, West St. John High, second place in Team Anthropology; Jaquisha Oates and Burnell Hall, West St. John High, third place in Team History; Jamal Walters, West St. John High, third place in History; Rae’ia Edwards, WSJH, third place in Political Science; Sandy Nguyen and Ordaijah Henyard, East St. John High, first place in Team Anthropology; Tyric and Tyrese Johnson, ESJH, first place in Team History; Nicolle Dardinger and Chase Ingram, East St. John High, first place in Team Louisiana History; and Taniyah Gross, ESJH, second place in Sociology.
