LAPLACE — According to the National Weather Service, a risk of severe weather is predicted to impact Southeast Louisiana including St. John Parish Friday night and again Saturday night as a cold front moves across the region.
The low pressure system could bring rainfall amounts of one to three inches with the possibility of locally higher amounts at times. Heavy downpours, street flooding in low-lying areas, tornadoes and large hail are the main threats.
Some storms could be severe and motorists should use caution when driving and never drive down flooded streets.
Parish crew members spent Friday checking the Parish pumping stations and removing debris from drains and catch basins. The St. John Parish Emergency Operations Center is monitoring weather forecasts for any changes.

Public Works and Utilities Departments staff members will be on call if any issues arise over the weekend.

Residents should report any emergencies, including street flooding, and all weather related concerns by dialing 911.
Residents may also sign up for Parish emergency alerts by visiting the homepage of the Parish’s website at sjbparish.com and clicking on “Stay Connected.”
