LaPlace Boil Water Advisory expected through Tuesday

LAPLACE — St. John the Baptist Parish officials announced Sunday evening that they anticipate lifting a Boil Water Advisory sometime Tuesday.
LaPlace residents have been under the advisory since overnight following a break in a main water line near Woodland Drive following a vehicle collision. At 5 p.m. Sunday, Parish officials said water services to LaPlace residents were restored following the main line break, adding Utilities Department employees worked through the night to restore water pressure.
Protocol following a loss of pressure to the system requires water sample testing by a state certified lab. The sample must be incubated for 24 hours before the test is administered.
Test results are sent to the Parish and Department of Health, and if no contaminants are identified, the Boil Water Advisory is lifted. The Parish anticipates lifting the Advisory for LaPlace residents on Tuesday.
During the Boil Water Advisory, LaPlace residents and businesses must boil water for one minute in a clean container prior to consumption. It is safe to bathe, wash clothes and wash dishes during this time. For extended directions in boiling water during a Boil Water Advisory, visit the Utilities Department webpage at sjbparish.com.
When the boil water advisory is lifted, notifications will be sent to the impacted area. Residents can sign up for the Parish notification system by visiting sjbparish.com and clicking on “Stay Connected.”
