LAPLACE — LaPlace Park residents and surrounding community members are asked to share their concerns at a town hall meeting next week.

St. John the Baptist Parish District 4 Councilman Marvin Perrilloux is hosting the town hall at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the LaPlace library, 2920 U.S. 51 in LaPlace.

Discussion topics include Haydel Canal Crossing and Levee and parking in the neighborhood.

Residents are invited to share concerns, suggestions and ask questions.

Perrilloux and representatives from the Parish will be on hand to answer questions.

State appointment for Travis Perrilloux

Governor John Bel Edwards recently appointed St. John Assistant Director of Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Travis Perrilloux to the Louisiana Emergency Response Commission.

Perrilloux will serve as an at-large member for the Commission, which supervises Louisiana implementation of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act and helps communities plan for chemical emergencies.

“I appreciate the opportunity to actively work for the betterment of the community,” Perrilloux said, according to a Parish release.

Parish President Natalie Robottom said living in an industrial corridor along the Mississippi River requires preparation and education concerning hazards and responses.

“Mr. Perrilloux is a St. John native who is committed to keeping our residents informed and safe, and he will serve the state well on the commission,” Robottom said.

Perrilloux, as a Commission member, will help coordinate Louisiana’s planning and preparedness activities for hazardous materials compliance.

He will also assist with creating public awareness of hazardous chemical risks and improve community preparedness.
