Nov. 24, 1977: Food Galore is what the Woodland Elementary School 4-H Club collected for 10 needy families. Pat’s Supermarket of LaPlace donated seven chickens. Major contributors to the food project are, from left, Michelle Jones, 4-H club president; Lisa Hodges, who brought in 50 canned food items; Juan Watkins, vice president; Julie Usey and Orland Mason, club members who helped pack boxes; Linda Roundtree, 4-H club leader and Emily Watkins, principal of Woodland School.

Nov. 22, 1997: Ascension of Our Lord students in Pam Secrease’s and Denise Vermeulen’s third-grade classes studied Earth in social studies, covering balloons with coats of paper mache, then painting the finished globes and adding continents to complete the project.
