Keller: Open your world by meeting others

I believe that life is more interesting when you get excited about meeting new people.
My wife often tells me, “Harold, did you ever think that maybe some people don’t want to meet you?” That never crosses my mind, because I’m only focused on meeting them.
One of the best gifts God gives me is the people I meet on my journey to eternity.
Monday morning at PJ’s Coffee Shop in LaPlace, I was seated with five of the regular men I usually meet there. I noticed a young man who walked in with a bright orange “Broncos” sweat shirt.
I walked up to him and said, “Did you buy that shirt after the game yesterday?” (The Broncos beat the Saints 25 – 23.) He smiled and said, “No, but I was at the game.”
His name was Scott and while we spoke, his wife, Stacy, walked up. Once they were seated, I asked if I could join them for a minute.
Scott, originally from Colorado, and Stacey, originally from Illinois, now live in Austin, Texas. Scott has an insurance agency, and they work together.
They have three children — two girls and a boy — and all three are swimmers and swim in college. Their daughters attend the University of Virginia, and their son has a scholarship to continue his love of swimming at another university.
Scott and Stacey were refreshing to be with. Since Scott is in the insurance business, I’m sure he’s heard of one company’s slogan, “You’re in good hands with us.” It’s without a doubt, after meeting the couple, that their clients can feel secure and comfortable with their insurance protection and the service they provide.
Before we left, we prayed, and I asked God to give them a safe, trouble-free trip back home and for Him to continually prosper them as their soul prospers, knowing that the best is yet to come.
Yes, God gives us what we need when we need it. I needed a blessing and God sent me two of his favorites. I also needed an article for this week.
