Construction began Friday on a right turn lane on Louisiana 44 northbound at the intersection of Airline Highway.

Intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures will be in effect between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. as work continues. The project is expected to be completed by late December, weather permitting.

Motorists can avoid this construction by detouring to Louisiana 3224.

No cash accepted at Louisiana OMV

The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles is not accepting cash for transactions.

The effort, which began this month, does still accept certain forms of payment for driver’s licenses, identification cards and mobility impaired hang tag transactions.

Those include debit cards, credit cards, checks, money orders and cashier checks.

Payment accepted for reinstatement transactions include debit cards, credit cards, money orders and cashier checks.

Vehicle transaction payments accepted include debit cards, credit cards, checks, money orders and cashier checks.
