2016 SCC Homecoming Queen crowned

LAPLACE — St. Charles Catholic High School students and alumni recently celebrated homecoming, which included a motorcade featuring the homecoming court wearing suits and riding in shiny convertibles, followed by the crowning of the homecoming queen at halftime.

SCC Homecoming Court members were voted on by their peers.

The SCC Homecoming Court and Alumni Escorts included eighth graders Blakely Heltz escorted by Blake Mora, Class of 1987 and Lyric Williams escorted by Darryl Wesley, Class of 2009; freshman representatives included Zahria Phillip escorted by Ed Lowry, Class of 1959, and Cassie Remondet escorted by Randall Tassin, Class of 1956; sophomore representatives included Halle Bourdonnay escorted by Robbie Eichorn, Class of 2010, and Keri Clement escorted by Benjamin Brady, Class of 2011; and junior representatives included Courtney Borne, escorted by Cameron Taylor, Class of 2013, and Grace Mohon, escorted by Alex Miller, Class of 2009.

There were six senior members of the 2016 Homecoming Court, who were also escorted by alumni. The senior court members and their escorts included Alaina Andry escorted by Kevin Torres, Class of 1980; Terriona Ford escorted by Stephen Pfister, Class of 1984; Destiney Holley escorted by Blake Forsythe, Class of 2009; Sadie Kelly escorted by Todd Loup, Class of 1984; Madisen Roussel escorted by Christopher Cancienne, Class of 2003; and Lillian Smith escorted by Frank Tarantino, Class of 1996.

Senior Madisen Roussel, daughter of Terry and Melissa Roussel, was crowned St. Charles Catholic’s 2016 Homecoming Queen. Madisen is a member of the Student Council and has lettered in softball. She has been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) for four years, and now serves as an FCA leader at the school.

Madisen is on the Retreat Team and conducts retreats at local elementary schools.

“I am very excited and blessed to be named 2016 St. Charles Catholic Homecoming Queen,” she said. “All the glory goes to God; because without Him, none of this would be possible. I would like to thank my fellow classmates at St. Charles Catholic for supporting me.”

Senior Sadie Kelly, daughter of Patrick Kelly and the late Lori Kelly, was named 2016 Homecoming Maid of Honor. She has been a Student Council member for three years and is serving as President of the senior class.

Sadie is also President of the SCC Stagehands and has performed in the past three spring productions. She is a member of Music Ministry and the Creative Writing Club at SCC.

St. Charles Catholic High School also welcomed Alumni cheerleaders to cheer at the game, and they did an awesome job.

The Annual Alumni Cook-Off was also held that night. Alumni cooks served great food from seafood eggrolls to alligator sauce picante. As part of the SCC Homecoming weekend celebration, more than 100 runners showed up bright and early Saturday morning to support SCC’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ Annual ‘Run for the Son.’
