News in brief: Airline Road closures Thursday & Friday

RESERVE — There will be southbound, right lane closures on Airline Highway at 10th Street in St. John the Baptist Parish between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday for the asphalt paving of a turn lane.
The left lane will be open at all times. Reduced speed limits will be posted. Motorists can avoid the construction by detouring on Interstate 10 or Louisiana 44.
Garyville, Mt. Airy Town hall planned Thursday
GARYVILLE — St. John the Baptist Parish Councilman At Large “Division A” Larry Sorapuru is hosting a town hall meeting for residents of Garyville and Mt. Airy beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Garyville Branch Library.
Residents are invited to share concerns, suggestions and ask questions. Sorapuru and representatives from Parish Administration will be on hand.
Retired Teachers Association forming
EDGARD — The Louisiana Retired Teachers Association is preparing to start a chapter in St. John the Baptist Parish. In an effort to reach all retirees before having an election of officers, there will be a meeting at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at West St. John High. Call 985-497-8832.
