LAPLACE — St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre and fellow LaPlace Rotary Club members Harry Glidden, Elaina DeFrancesch, Mary Lynn Altmont, JoAnn Proctor, Cheryl Millet and Betty Martin recently spent time with Lake Pontchartrain fourth graders.

The community leaders talked to students about American flag history and flag etiquette.

Students received flag wristbands and flag etiquette booklets to take home.

The Rotary members presented interesting facts in a skit called “Meet the American Flag” and also spoke about protocol for reciting “The Pledge of Allegiance.”

Many children received American flag pins for correctly answering questions about the American flag. Club members plan to visit all fourth grades in the parish this school year to teach students about the U.S. flag.
