LULING — The St. Charles Parish Planning Commission recently approved the first major subdivision for construction in years.
Parish officials said the approval marks the first major subdivision to be constructed since 2007. The new subdivision will extend from the Hidden Oaks Subdivision in Luling and will have space availability for 66 lots.
“St. Charles Parish is a safe, affordable and accessible location for families looking to settle down in the region,” Planning and Zoning Director Michael Albert said. “New home starts here display the kind of demand for homes that we have long known can be accommodated by the Parish. New housing opportunities mean new jobs, new ideas and more opportunity for all of our residents.”
These applications are processed through three steps: Preliminary Plat, Construction Approval and Final Approval/Dedication of Infrastructure.
When the design meets the Subdivision Regulation standards, the Planning and Zoning Commission may approve the Preliminary Plat.
Those subdivisions approved by the Commission not requiring infrastructure are forwarded to the Council.
