PAULINA — Pink Ribbon Ladies’ Night Out will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 at St. Peter Chanel Gym in Paulina.
After weather complications forced a cancellation in 2015, St. James Parish Hospital organizers took the opportunity to obtain community feedback and suggestions from a diverse group of local breast cancer survivors.
Education and survivor celebration were universally stated as the most important event goals, which are now the hospital’s primary focus for Oct. 26’s event.
Pink Ribbon Ladies’ Night Out will be a more meaningful and time-conscious evening, organizers said.
In addition to a mini cancer-focused health fair where ladies can visit booths, East Jefferson General Hospital, a member of the MD Anderson Cancer Network, will be educating attendees on Integrative Medicine — how the EJGH Cancer Care team includes holistic approaches with clinical medicine to improve patient outcomes and comfort.
This year’s event concludes with a moving and exciting survivor ceremony in celebration of the reason the hospital works so hard to spread awareness and education.
Entrance will be by bracelet only. A meal and dessert will be served and bracelets will be used for door prize drawings. Bracelets are $5 and can be purchased at the Medical Plaza next to St. James Parish Hospital in Lutcher or at the St. James West Bank Clinic located in Vacherie.
The Breast Cancer Survivors’ Only Sale will be offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 10-11 at both locations.
Survivors will be allowed to purchase up to three bracelets.
The Community Sale will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 12–13 or while supplies last. Community members can buy up to two bracelets. Check out the Hospital’s Facebook Page for more information or to find out when bracelets are sold out.
