LAPLACE — The St. John the Baptist Parish Board of Election Supervisors will meet at 9 a.m. Oct. 10 at the Registrar of Voter’s Office, 1801 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace, to draw Commissioners and Alternate Commissioners for the Nov. 8 Election.

Des Allemands Shoreline work progressing

EDGARD — St. John set the advertisement of bids and specifications for Phase II of the West Lac Des Allemands Shoreline Protection Project in Pleasure Bend.

Work will begin once permits are received with an estimated construction cost of $648,000. Phase II is being completed with funding remaining from Phase I to construct additional shoreline protection at the mouth of the Vacherie Canal.

“This vital coastal protection project was funded 100 percent by a federal grant and will serve to protect the coastline for many years to come,” Parish President Natalie Robottom said.
