LAPLACE — St. Joan of Arc Catholic School commemorated its 55th anniversary Sept. 3 by holding a special school Mass.

During morning announcements, Principal Jeffrey Montz shared a bit of SJA history with the students, reminding them the school was established by the Dominican sisters in 1961.

To begin the celebration of the Eucharist, seventh grade students Chloe Genovese and Giancarlo Lara carried a banner representing the theme for the new school year, “Love one another as I have loved you. This is how all will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

The students also enjoyed popsicles during recess to celebrate their school’s founding.
