LULING — Representatives from St. Charles Parish Government, Louisiana Disability Law and Creative Family Solutions are serving as chairpersons for the 2016 United Way of St. Charles Fall Campaign.

This year’s co-chairs are Anthony Ayo of St. Charles Parish Government, Loyd J. Bourgeois Jr. of Louisiana Disability Law and Eric Dishongh of Creative Family Solutions.

“As someone raising a family and working here in St. Charles Parish, supporting our community is very important to me and I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve as a co-chair of the 2016 United Way Campaign,” said Bourgeois, a Luling disability and personal injury attorney. “From the School Backpack Program to the Imagination Library Book Program to funding many health initiatives and its many other programs and partner agencies, the value of the United Way of St. Charles to our community is unparalleled. I am truly honored to assist United Way of St. Charles continue and deepen the important place it has in St. Charles Parish.”

United Way of St. Charles conducts a fundraising campaign every fall to develop resources that help support agencies and programs providing direct services in St. Charles Parish. The United Way Campaign is held August through December.

Ayo, executive director of technology and communications for St. Charles Parish Government, started working in the public sector because it was a great way to serve his community while growing my career.

“It is gratifying to see the fruits of your labor impact people in a positive way,” he said. “What better way to add to that mission than to serve as Campaign co-chair for the United Way of St. Charles. It’s a pleasure to serve an organization that supports 27 local agencies and serves more than 40,000 people.

“I have witnessed the United Way’s impact on families first hand, and it is an honor and a blessing that Parish President Larry Cochran has nominated me to serve in this capacity. I look forward to representing both the United Way and our St. Charles Parish Government.”

The campaign officially kicks off with the 2016 Battle for the Paddle Gumbo & Jambalaya Cook-off from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling and is open to the public.

Eric Dishongh, executive director for Creative Family Solutions, is honored to co-chair for the Campaign.

“Some have termed St. Charles Parish the ‘parish of plenty,’ and while that is certainly true, the United Way helps to ensure that all residents of our community have access to essential programs and services that not only will benefit families in need but our community as a whole,” he said. “As a current donor and partner agency representative, I am looking forward to not only sharing the mission of the United Way with prospective donors but also the trustworthy and transparent process in which funds are raised, managed, and allocated.”
