St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District officials announced all public schools would be closed Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for St John Parish, valid until 3:15 p.m. Friday.

“Due to the emergency declaration issued for St. John the Baptist Parish and the further extension of the flood warning for our area until Friday afternoon, all St. John the Baptist Parish Public Schools will be closed on Friday, Aug. 19,” a release from the School District said.

Other schools in St. John Parish closed for Friday include: St. Charles Catholic High School in LaPlace, Ascension of Our Lord Catholic School in LaPlace, St. Peter Catholic School in Reserve and St. Joan of Arc Catholic School.

Riverside Academy announced school would be in session Friday.

St. Peter Chanel Interparochial School is closed Friday, as well.
