LUTCHER — St. James Parish Hospital is excited to announce a week of wellness events during September in celebration of men’s health and prostate cancer awareness month.
On Sept. 16 at 7:30 a.m., the hospital will be hosting a “Morning Call” Men’s Health Event, which will offer a free breakfast, several wellness presentations, free screenings (cholesterol, blood pressure and BMI), $5 PSA blood tests and door prize drawings.
This will be an invaluable opportunity for attendees to learn from several relevant specialists all in one room. Each physician will also be available to answer questions at the conclusion of their presentation.
In addition to the breakfast event, St. James Parish Hospital is offering $5 PSA (prostate specific antigen) screenings from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 12-16.
PSA screenings are simple blood tests that do not require fasting. Participants can register in the main hospital lobby. Cash or checks will be accepted.
Register today for the free Men’s Health Breakfast and encourage a friend to sign-up. To register, visit sjph.org/events or call 225-258-5952. Space is limited.
“When addressing many diseases, it is extremely important to catch issues as early as possible,” said Carolyn Bossier, RN, Education Coordinator at St. James Parish Hospital. “We realize that the chance of survival is drastically increased when cancer is detected in its beginning stages; therefore, we work hard to offer both screenings and education to the community.”
