Keller: Irreplaceable time should never be wasted

Time is more valuable than money because time is irreplaceable. It’s amazing we all know that, yet we continue to waste something that can’t be replaced.
I remember when my children were young. I read and heard many times that ‘love’ is spelled ‘time.’ I loved my children and provided them with all the necessities, but many times neglected spending quality time with them.
Yes, I spent a lot of time with them, but the quality time was in short supply.
At my age, I hate to admit that I still waste valuable time. Recently, I came across a book titled “Wings of Silver” by Jo Petty, which my daughter, Ronny, gave me over 30 years ago. The following is a quote from this book:
“The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour. Now is the only time you own: Live, love, toil with a will. Place no faith in tomorrow; for the clock may then be still.”
I realize now, more than ever, that it’s never too late to quit wasting time. I’ve decided to greet each day with love in my heart and spend the early morning reading God’s Word and thanking Him for my many blessings.
I will plan like I’ll live a few more years, but live today like it’s my last.
I will try to master my emotions and finish my book that I started 20 years ago.
I will not let the darkness in today’s world prevent me from being a light to others I meet on my journey to eternity.
As the clock in my life is winding down and one day will be still, I want to hear these words from my Father, “Well done good and faithful servant.”
