LAPLACE — The kidney transplant surgery scheduled this week for donor Andre Ardeneau, a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputy, and recipient Jason Triche, a St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s deputy, has been postponed once again, according to family members.
The surgery now is scheduled for Thursday.
Triche was one of two St. John Sheriff’s deputies wounded in the line of duty during an ambush shooting in August of 2012. Deputies Brandon Nielsen and Jeremy Triche died in the attack.
Triche has undergone dozens of surgeries since then and his one remaining kidney began to fail.
In March, his sister, Chasity Triche-Armstrong, put a notice out on social media, asking friends and family to get tested as a potential match.
Ardeneau, who did not know the Triche family, recently decided to get tested after meeting a soon-to-be donor on a cruise ship. Ardeneau was found to be a match for Triche.
