RESERVE — South Central Louisiana Technical College’s HVAC students recently completed some unconventional projects to help get ready for the working world.
In a matter of days, students installed a JeepAir YJ Kit in a Jeep Wrangler and also recently installed a Daikin Mini Split Ductless AC System. That Splitter uses Inverter Technology, cooling the Department office and classroom.
Master HVAC Instructor Terry Carmouche led the efforts, which included the cooperation and partnership of Mark Duncan, Trish Smith and Jon de Lucia of JeepAir of Ocala, Fla.
HVAC training covers more than home unit repair, according to Carmouche, who routinely challenges his students to foster a strong sense of industry knowledge.
The hands on experience prepares students for the workforce with EPA Certification through an HVAC Excellence Certified curriculum.
School leaders said students, upon completion of the program, enjoy a job placement rate of 100 percent, with many offered jobs before graduation.
