HAHNVILLE — The St. Charles Parish Council voted unanimously this week to formally adopt the bridge logo and colors as the official branding of St. Charles Parish.

Council Chairwoman Wendy Benedetto said adopting the branding keeps consistency and was a fiscally responsible decision.

“Residents are familiar with the bridge and colors representing the parish, and we want to keep it that way,” Benedetto said.

The administration announced in January their intention to keep the branding and to draft official legislation to ensure consistency between parish presidents.

Former parish presidents have changed the colors and logo upon taking office.

In January, St. Charles Parish President Larry Cochran said administration considered the effort and cost of this type of endeavor and simply couldn’t bring themselves to do it.

“Instead of focusing on logos, we are choosing to focus on levees, infrastructure and other critical parish needs,” Cochran said.

The current color branding of green, gold and beige and the bridge logo were first adopted in 2008.

Former parish colors have included gold and garnet while the former parish logo depicted an image of the river and sun with birds in flight.
