St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in the first block of Hastings Court in LaPlace Thursday following a domestic disturbance report.

A 25-year-old victim told deputies her live-in boyfriend, Dajuan Kelson, 26, started a physical altercation with her after seeing pictures on her social media account.

Sheriff Mike Tregre said Dajuan choked and hit the victim.

The female was able to pull away and call 911 for help, Tregre said, adding she did not require emergency medical treatment.

Dajuan Kelson fled the scene with his brother Anthony Kelson, 38, before deputies arrived.

“A responding deputy spotted a car matching the description of the car that Dajuan Kelson fled in and attempted to conduct an investigative stop,” Tregre said.

“The driver, Anthony Kelson, refused to stop, sped and disregarded numerous traffic controls before stopping at a residence in the 200 block of Satsuma Street in LaPlace.

“Both parties were arrested without incident and booked accordingly.”

Dajuan was booked with domestic abuse battery involving strangulation and was released from custody Thursday after posting a $2,750 bond.

Anthony was booked with stop sign and yield sign violations, general speed law, driver must be licensed, obedience to police officers and aggravated flight from an officer.

He was also released Thursday after posting a $6,750 bond.
