LAPLACE — Live music, food and raffles can be enjoyed by all for a minimum of a $5 donation June 18 as part of a benefit the family of LaPlace’s Haley Moore.

Haley Moore, 5, died from a self inflicted gunshot wound May 21 at her father’s LaPlace home.

Haley’s mother, Corie Beaumount, said the benefit will help pay for Haley’s funeral expenses.

“A friend of mine is the one putting it together,” she said. “It makes me feel good because I have family and friends that want to support us through this difficult time right now.”

The benefit will take place from 2 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. starting June 18 at the Cypress Stump, 1072 E. Airline Highway in LaPlace.

The music lineup will begin with The Blues Hustlers then Rockit Acoustic, Clayton Lee Rayborn, Modern Day Trip, Jay Sloan, Dead Machine Theory, The Bald Dog Project and Severed Mass.

Two of the groups, Beaumont said, are friends of hers and The Bald Dog Project played at Haley’s wake and funeral.

Beaumount said Haley, the youngest of her children, was her “little twin” adding the two liked to take pictures together.

“She was outspoken,” Beaumount said. “She was a princess and a daredevil on the monkey bars. She loved life and to make everyone laugh. Her best friend was her older brother (Michael) and she loved her older sister (Ashley) too.”

While there have been some negative comments floating around the community about the tragic shooting, Beaumount said there has also been support.

“Her school did something for her the day after her funeral,” she said. “Garden of Eden did a memorial for her at their pre-k graduation. They did a balloon release, a teddy bear sitting in for her with her class and they are also going to do a memorial for her.”
