The fifth grade students at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School recently joined other fifth graders from across the Archdiocese of New Orleans at the annual vocation awareness day at Mount Carmel High School.

The goal of the day was to educate students about various vocations in the religious life. The day started with a keynote speaker before students broke into sessions.

The first session was a panel of individuals who explained their vocation, and the students were allowed to ask them questions. The second session was a matching game in which students had to match descriptions on cards to the religious vocations they described.

The point of the activity was to show the students that, although they have a religious vocation, they are much like ordinary people and do ordinary, fun things.
