Wray: Chamber team fuels up for DC Fly-In

Thankfully, the weather has been beautiful, festivals have been going strong and your River Region Chamber of Commerce is gearing up to once again advocate action to be the “Voice” of business during a DC Fly-In Tuesday and Wednesday.
A diligent group of Chamber members and local government officials will be in attendance. We are set to meet with local delegates at scheduled times during our visit.
With the help of Adams & Reese, who have been a great aide with scheduling and coordination, this is a great opportunity for businesses to sit face to face with our delegation in our nation’s capital.
Some issues planned for discussion include: NFIP/Flood Protection, DOL Overtime rule and EPA Clean power plan/renewable fuel standard. Along with input from Adams and Reese, these topics have been finalized by the Chamber’s Public Policy committee.
Stay tuned for a recap once we return. If you have comments or questions you wish for us to deliver on your behalf, please email your request to chassity@riverregionchamber.org.
In the meantime, locally, we are anticipating another special session for our state legislators. Our Public Policy committee is committed to staying on top of the issues and will bring pertinent information to assist with your business sustainability.
Finally, many of you may have noticed phone calls and written correspondence from Chamber Ambassadors and Board members. We want to make sure to reach out to members to not only express heartfelt thanks for your investment, but also to encourage participation in upcoming events.
The best way we can represent you is to talk to you and get to know you. Your input is valuable.
Ambassadors have been assigned to each new member during the first year of membership. Their role is to help mentor new members to make sure they are aware of all benefits the Chamber has available to them.
Whether at a networking event or one of the various upcoming membership meetings, please feel free to introduce yourself. There are many opportunities to meet new people that can lead to future commerce.
Thank you for being an active member of the River Region Chamber of Commerce! If there are ideas you wish to share that can improve the work of your local Chamber, please feel free to reach out – my email is annette.wray@cox.com. I would love to hear from you!
