BATON ROUGE — Four River Region students were among 57 recognized as Class of 2016 for Leadership LSU graduates.

Members of the class followed a rigorous application and selection process and participated in bi-weekly seminars about adaptive leadership throughout the spring semester. LSU will present students who complete the program a stole to wear on their academic robes at some commencement ceremonies.

Local students include LaPlace’s Laeh Alexander, a mass communication major concentrated in journalism; Boutte’s Ashley Folse, a management major concentrated in human resource management; Garyville’s Vani’Tra Braud, a marketing major concentrated in professional sales; and Luling’s Jenna Zeringue, a psychology major.

The Leadership LSU Class of 2016 volunteered with the Family and Youth Services Center in Baton Rouge during the fourth annual Geaux BIG Baton Rouge service day April 16.

Geaux BIG Baton Rouge is a one-day event, planned by a student organization of the same name within LSU Campus Life and seeks to unite LSU students and Baton Rouge residents through service in order to strengthen the university’s relationship with the community.

Leadership LSU is a campus tradition during which students explore the concepts of adaptive leadership through group discussion and extracurricular lectures with LSU and community leaders.

The program connects students’ leadership experiences with the challenges of their future career choices, to develop a leadership network and to deepen an understanding of leadership within a larger societal context.
