NEW SARPY — A Destrehan High School student was killed Wednesday, shot in head, according to authorities.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office announced deputies discovered the body of Kendall Williams Jr., of DHS, at East Harding and 8th Street in New Sarpy at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after responding to a shooting call.

Williams was pronounced dead on the scene with a gunshot wound to the head.

Within hours of the shooting, authorities said, officers obtained an arrest warrant for 2nd degree murder for Javon D. Wells of 740 East Hoover St. in New Sarpy.

Wells was arrested and is being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center.
