RESERVE — A local man was arrested Monday, charged with attempted second-degree murder.
St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said Detrick Labranch, 23, of LaPlace turned himself in to detectives at the Criminal Investigations Division with his attorney present.
Labranch was arrested in connection with an April 6 shooting on East 17th Street in Reserve that took place at approximately 7:21 a.m.
Deputies identified a victim at the scene as a 31-year-old male who lives on East 17th Street.
Emergency medical services treated the victim and brought him to an area hospital for treatment.
The victim was shot multiple times, and authorities are not releasing where he was shot. No one else was injured.
The victim has been released from the hospital.
Sgt. Dane Clement said the shooting took place outside a home, and authorities believe the suspect was the shooter.
Clement said authorities are not releasing a motive because there is an active investigation.
Authorities said no other suspects are being sought at this time.
Over the course of the investigation, Tregre said, detectives identified Labranch as a suspect and obtained a judicial court ordered arrest warrant for attempted second-degree murder.
No bond has been set.
