LAPLACE — Parish Presidents from St. John the Baptist, St. James and St. Charles Parishes are expected to attend this year’s River Region Chamber of Commerce’s Parish President’s Forum.
The forum is from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Belle Terre Country Club, located at 111 Fairway Drive in LaPlace.
Chamber Executive Director Chassity McComack said more than 100 attendees are expected.
“This event has been an annual event held since the early years of the Chamber’s inception,” McComack said. “The event stems from the program of work of the Public Policy committee as a way to unify communication of upcoming projects and issues for each respective parish.”
Parish Presidents Natalie Robottom, Timothy P. Roussel and Larry Cochran will be asked a set of questions, in panel format, by the Public Policy Committee, McComack said.
“The questions will not be shared in advance of the event, and they will revolve around business as it relates to issues affecting the business climate,” McComack said.
Breakfast will be provided for the morning forum. Members can attend for $25, and future members can attend for $40.
“This is a great opportunity for businesses between the parish lines to come together collectively to hear what’s happening in their own and neighboring parishes, while offering the opportunity to network with each other and parish leaders,” McComack said.
Robottom said she looks forward to updating Chamber members about issues of importance to the business community and parish as a whole. Questions asked to presidents may include ongoing Parish projects, infrastructure needs, potential business opportunities and future developments, flood protection and transportation.
Robottom encourages the business community to attend the event to receive important news impacting St. John Parish, the region and state.
“Regional partnerships and teamwork are vital to the growth of our communities, and they provide a stronger voice on the state and federal level,” she said. “I want to thank the River Parishes Chamber of Commerce for providing opportunities such as this one, which help foster regional cooperation and allow the business community to gain useful information.”
