EDGARD — The Edgard Library celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday March 2 with a Dr. Seuss inspired craft and story time.

Carlos Diaz, a library associate at the Edgard Library, and Lynn Braud, children’s/outreach librarian, guided children on how to make an exquisite “Cat in the Hat” hat. The children then crowned their heads with the famous top hat worn by the mischievous cat in Dr. Seuss’s famous story “The Cat in the Hat.”

Reading! Rhythm! Readiness! is the title of the story time that was hosted by Braud. She recited four of Dr. Seuss’s stories, taught beginning literacy skills like matching, learning opposites and rhyming.

She also made slime with the kids to coincide with Dr. Seuss’ “Bartholomew and the Oobleck.”

Storytime is held at 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Edgard Library. Braud encourages children between 3 and 6, along with their parents, to come out and join in on the fun.
