LAPLACE — Approximately 9,200 customers are without power in St. John the Baptist Parish, officials announced Wednesday morning.

Major outages are impacting Airline Highway from Laplace Park Subdivision to Belle Terre Blvd., Sugar Ridge Subdivision, New Era Subdivision, Carrollwood Subdivision, Foxwood Subdivision, Belle Terre Subdivision, Riverlands Subdivision and Cambridge Subdivision.

Crews are out assessing Parish and working to get power restored, and the estimated restoration is 5 p.m. Thursday for everyone.

The Parish has lifted the curfew imposed Tuesday evening after a tornado and major storm impacted the region.

Emily C. Watkins Elementary, located at 938 Hwy 628 in LaPlace, is open for residents who sustained damage to their homes.

If possible, please bring supplies, toiletries, homecare items, food and medicine to the shelter.
