RESERVE — Families participated in a Valentine’s Day program by decorating gingerbread houses dubbed “Love Shacks” Thursday at the Reserve Library.
Each family decorated the shacks, which were built of graham crackers, using vanilla icing, sweetened coconut and a variety of Valentine’s Day candies.
Approximately seven families participated.
Each member of the family left with a sweetly crafted love shack and candies to snack on at their leisure.
“I was inspired to host this program, because, for me, ‘the shack’ represent a family’s home, no matter the size or condition,” said Rona Joseph, branch supervisor of the library.
Joseph also hosted a Valentine’s Make Shoppe on Saturday. Adults, as well as children, created candy bouquets using paper flowers and an assortment of Valentine candies.
Lapsit Storytime was held Friday at the Central Library with a Valentine’s Day theme.
The children, along with their parents, listened to stories with the holiday’s theme, created songs, danced and crafted a Valentine’s puppy made with heart shapes.
The next lapsit story time is planned for Friday. Join Dawn Monica for the fun learning experience.
