Photo feature: Spellbound students earn titles

- The St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District held its District Spelling Bee Jan. 27 and 28. Students first had to win their school spelling bees to qualify for the district contest. District winners at the third-grade level were, front row from left, Ariana Tinsley, first; Machai Johnson, second; and Dedrick Lastie, third. School-level winners were, back row from left, Parker Byrd, Reese Bogart, Tia Woods, D.J. Johnson and Laten Vinnetta.
District winners at the fourth-grade level were, front row from left, Amari Anderson, first; Marcus Whitfield, second; and Marcel Nelson, third. School-level winners were, back row from left, Madison Davis, Samara Smith, JaJuan Snyder and Devin Jackson.
District winners at the fifth-grade level were, front row from left, Emani Payne, first; Tobore Takpor, second; and Janell Young, third. School-level winners were, back row from left, James Deville, Janneth Lopez, O’Remonte Fredericks, Kaedyn Bailey and Schylar Grunberg.
