LAPLACE – Every Friday morning at the Central Library in LaPlace, Lapsit Storytime is held for children 3 and younger.

The story time held Jan. 29 was very special, as the youngest child to ever be a part of the program under the supervision of Dawn Monica attended.

Kanon Rich, son of Jason and Jaime Rich of LaPlace, is a two-week-old baby boy who was joined by his parents, big brother Keaton, big sister Kori and grandparents Dean and Lynda Rich.

The family has been attending for four years, and the library is a huge part of their lives.

Jaime, an avid reader, is passing on her passion for reading to her children. She and Jason are continuing a tradition of story time attendance that started with Jason and his parents, Dean and Lynda Rich.

“Lapsit Storytime is the best part of my job,” Monica said. “We read, we sing, we dance and have a great time. It’s a privilege to be a part of their lives and always a joy.”

Big brother Keaton also attends “Reading! Rhythm! Readiness,” a story time program for pre-school children ages 3 to 5. This program is offered at 10 a.m. every Wednesday at the Central Library.
