DESTREHAN — An area teen was arrested this week after being wanted for shooting a man with a shotgun.
According to authorities, Jakorey Williams, 18, of Destrehan shot a man early New Year’s morning after a dispute broke out between the suspect and the victim.
After receiving a call of a shooting, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Meadows Drive in Destrehan at 1:22 a.m. Friday. An injured male victim was located and taken to St. Charles Hospital for treatment.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim was reported in stable condition following the shooting.
Capt. Pat Yoes said Williams turned himself in Monday and was charged with attempted second-degree homicide.
“The victim and Williams had a dispute in the past,” Yoes said. “They exchanged words earlier that night prior to the shooting.”
Yoes said the victim was injured by a single shotgun blast that caused damage to multiple places on his body.
“It had multiple pellets,” he said. “He was struck with one blast, but that blast caused a number of wounds across his torso, face and arm.”
